How to choose fleet graphics for your truck

Compare door lettering, larger graphics, materials, sizing, proof steps, and ordering paths before you commit the vehicle.

The short answer

Start with the message and viewing distance. Use door lettering for clear identification. Add larger graphics when the vehicle needs stronger brand recognition. Measure every usable panel, choose material for the real exposure, and approve the digital layout before production.

Source basis: customer measurements, the live product configuration, and manufacturer-published data for the exact material selected.

Types of fleet graphics

The right coverage starts with the job. A single truck may need only a readable name and phone number. A fleet may need a master layout that adapts to several body styles.

Choose material for the real exposure

Start with the exact product data for the selected vinyl. Do not transfer one material rating to another. Sun, road spray, cleaning, panel shape, and installation all affect service life.

SurfacePaint, glass, or smooth metalAdhesion and removal differ by surface

Measure the usable panel

Measure the flat area that can actually receive graphics. Exclude handles, trim, hinges, sharp body lines, windows, sensors, and damaged paint. Take a straight photo and place a known measurement in the frame.

  1. Record the usable width and height in inches.
  2. Mark every obstruction inside the rectangle.
  3. Measure the same panel on each vehicle type in the fleet.
  4. Price the full finished bounding box, including all lines and gaps.

Design for road viewing

Lead with the business name or service. Keep the phone number readable. Use high contrast against the vehicle colour. Avoid filling every inch with small text that cannot be read in motion.

  • One clear message beats several competing messages.
  • Use the same hierarchy on every vehicle.
  • Check spelling, phone numbers, and web addresses in the proof.
  • Keep a master file for later vehicle additions and repairs.

Installation and care

The surface should be clean, dry, sound, and suitable for the selected adhesive. Follow the application instructions supplied for the chosen material. Larger or contoured graphics may need an experienced installer.

Care note

Avoid harsh scraping and high-pressure spray at graphic edges. Inspect lifting or damage before cleaning. Care guidance varies with material and installation.

Frequently asked

Should I use door lettering or larger fleet graphics?

Use door lettering when the main job is identification and contact information. Use larger graphics when the vehicle also needs a repeatable visual brand.

What measurements are needed?

Measure each usable flat panel. Record width and height, then note handles, trim, seams, windows, and body lines that interrupt the area.

How long does vehicle vinyl last?

Service life depends on the selected material, surface preparation, placement, exposure, cleaning, and installation. Use the rating for the exact material selected for the order.

Do I approve the design before production?

Yes. Custom fleet graphics use a digital layout for review before production. Check text, scale, colour direction, and vehicle placement.
